About Mosqivac (RTS,S/AS01E)

Mosqivac (RTS,S/AS01E) - The Next-Generation Malaria Vaccine

Mosqivac (RTS,S/AS01E) is a newly accessible form of Mosquirix(RTS,S/AS01) manufactured by BBIL under a technology transfer agreement from GSK. It takes up the torch in global health, as global accessible vaccine from Mosquirix, world's first approved malaria vaccine to ensure a sustainable and affordable supply. It is specifically engineered for young children and infants between 6 weeks and 17 months of age, to target Plasmodium falciparum--the deadliest malarial parasite.

The engineered antigen, Recombinant circumsporozoile protein (CSP), is fused with hepatitis B surface antigens and made more immunogenic with the AS01E adjuvant, allowing the vaccine to trigger a robust immunie response that effectively blocks the parasite before it can breach and infect the liver.

Administered as a three-dose primary schedule spaced one month apart, followed by a critical fourth booster dose at 18 months, the vaccine has marked monumental achievements in pediatric preventative care. Clinical data demonstrate that RTS,S/AS01E successfully reduces clinical malaria episodes by 26% to 36% and decreases severe, life-threatening malaria hospital admissions by approximately 30%. It has a strong safely profile with mild transient side effects such as temporary irritability, injection-site pain, or low-grade fever.

Supported by strategic agreements with UNICEF AND Gavi, this collaborative Mosqivac aims to optimize production scales and successfully lower the vaccine's cost to roughly half its initial cost by early 2027, paving the way for wider deployment and saving countless lives globally.
